A Guide to Choosing High Temperature Lab Furniture

Choosing furniture for a high-temperature laboratory is a comprehensive decision-making process that requires consideration of several factors to ensure that the furniture you choose meets the specific needs of your high-temperature laboratory.

Determine the specific type of laboratory, such as physical laboratory, chemical laboratory, inorganic laboratory or biochemical laboratory, etc., different types of laboratories have different needs for furniture.

Core material selection

1. High temperature resistant material

Stainless steel/all-steel construction: strong high temperature resistance, can withstand long-term high temperature environment, and has the characteristics of anti-corrosion and easy cleaning, suitable for the frame design of high temperature laboratory benches and fume hoods.

PP (polypropylene) material: excellent corrosion resistance, but limited high temperature resistance, so it needs to be selected according to the experimental temperature (usually suitable for medium and low temperature environments).

2. Countertop material

Solid core physical and chemical board: high temperature resistance up to 140 °C (short-term can withstand 180 °C), corrosion resistance, wear resistance, suitable for high temperature operation table.

Ceramic countertop: high temperature resistant and easy to clean, but high cost, suitable for precision experimental environments.

Stainless steel countertop: high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, but pay attention to the surface anti-scratch treatment.

According to the spatial structure and available space of the laboratory, determine the size and layout of the laboratory table. The standard width of the bench is usually 1200 mm and 1500 mm, and the height can be adjusted according to the height of the experimenter. Ensure that the lab bench has sufficient stability and load-bearing capacity to support the experimental equipment and reagents.

Choose furniture materials and designs that are easy to clean and disinfect to maintain the cleanliness of your lab. Choose good quality hardware accessories to ensure smooth opening and closing of cabinet doors and drawers, and prolong the life of your furniture. Configure appropriate accessories such as sinks, power outlets, etc., according to the needs of the experiment.

High-temperature experiments can generate heat and harmful gases, so lab furniture needs to be well ventilated. For example, the fume hood should have an efficient ventilation system, which can discharge harmful gases in time and protect the health of experimenters; The cabinet can also be designed with ventilation holes or ventilation ducts to promote air circulation, reduce internal temperature, and prevent overheating of equipment.

When purchasing high-temperature laboratory furniture, it is necessary to comprehensively consider the material, structural design, functional requirements, safety performance, brand and after-sales and other aspects, and choose the right products according to the specific situation and actual needs of the laboratory to ensure that the work of the laboratory can be carried out safely and efficiently.
